Gig Log: Wedding at Royal Kona Resort

Last weekend we got the chance to work at Royal Kona Resort for the first time. They have a nice room to hold a wedding near the Sunset Cove. The Sunset cove is a area outdoors which overlooks the ocean with sand. This is a perfect place especially for tourists to have a wedding which give that whole I’m in Hawaii feel. But I also think it is a great venue for locals due to having a venue that will let you appreciate this great island with the ocean behind you and the nice ocean breeze. They are also improving the room there by changing the decor and making it look a little more elegant and updated for todays weddings. They are doing a good job so far. Lighting goes a really long way in that room. I like that the room is dome shaped so it allows the room to be lit up pretty well from all sides if the lighting is done correctly. Here is what we did. We used the wedding party’s requested color of blue for the surrounding room. Since the couple is visiting for Seattle we decided to put yellow on the palm trees to make a Hawaii, sun, and vacation feel.

It was surprisingly great venue to work in with great staff. The wedding party were there to also have a good time which really helped with the whole feel. I guess if you’re having a wedding in Hawaii you might as well enjoy every moment of it. We’re definitely looking forward to working at Royal Kona Resort again.
